Mechanical & Industrial Design

Product form, mechanical detail, and hardware integration — developed together.

Precision measurement of a mechanical component during physical design evaluation

Shape the product. Engineer the details.

SIDE develops the physical side of electronic products: how they look, how their parts fit together, and how the design accommodates the hardware inside. Our mechanical and industrial design work connects product appearance with practical engineering.

We start with the required function, the intended user, and the space available for the system. The design then develops alongside the electronics and embedded software, with prototype feedback informing the next revision.

Mechanical Engineering

We turn product requirements into component and assembly concepts, considering enclosure geometry, mounting features, connectors, and access for assembly. Mechanical detail is coordinated with board dimensions and other hardware interfaces.

Mechanical Design

  • 3D component and assembly modeling
  • Enclosure and mounting concepts
  • Board-to-enclosure fit and clearance
  • 2D drawings and design revisions

Industrial Design

  • Product appearance and form exploration
  • Concept sketches and visual development
  • Control and connector placement
  • Physical models for design evaluation

Industrial Design & Product Experience

The exterior should support the way the product is used. We explore proportions, visual character, and the arrangement of physical interfaces, then develop the selected direction with the engineering constraints in view.

Early discussions help establish what matters to the customer: appearance, installation, handling, available space, or access to the electronics. Those priorities guide the concept rather than being added at the end.

Physical prototypes.
Useful engineering feedback.

Prototype models help reveal issues that can be difficult to judge on screen. We use physical builds to evaluate proportions, fit, access, and how the mechanical design works with the hardware.

The prototype method and level of detail are selected around the questions the build needs to answer.

Our Design Process

  1. Establish the requirements. Understand product use, dimensions, interfaces, and design priorities.
  2. Explore and develop. Refine the form and mechanical arrangement into a coordinated design.
  3. Build and evaluate. Review physical fit and operation, investigate issues, and update the design.

Bring the mechanical and electronic design together.

Whether you have an early product idea or an existing enclosure that needs improvement, SIDE can help define a practical engineering scope. Share the current CAD files, board dimensions, reference images, or the specific fit and assembly issues you need to resolve.

A useful starting point: what must fit inside, how the product will be used, and which physical constraints cannot change.
